Artist Statement

As an AuDHD artist, my work embodies the unique lens through which I experience the world, emphasizing the forced focus that neurodivergents often navigate in everyday life. My paintings serve as a visual exploration of selective focus, capturing the intricate layers of attention and distraction that coexist within our minds.

In a society that frequently overlooks the nuances of neurodivergent experiences, I aim to highlight the beauty and complexity of living with a mind that processes information differently. Each piece is a reflection of my journey, where I meticulously choose which elements to emphasize and which to blur, mirroring the conscious decisions I make daily to manage overwhelming stimuli.

Utilizing a variety of techniques, I layer colors and textures to create a sense of depth and movement, inviting viewers to experience the tension between clarity and chaos. The interplay of sharp focus and soft edges in my work symbolizes the cognitive effort required to maintain attention in a world that often feels disjointed and overstimulating.

Through my art, I seek to foster understanding and empathy for the neurodivergent experience. I want to create a dialogue about the often unrecognized challenges we face and the strength that emerges from navigating these complexities. Each painting is an invitation to engage with the world from my perspective, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own experiences of focus and distraction.
